Day 10- Neuschwanstein

We had our final tour that was a part of the program and our last day before presentations! I think today was the day I’ve been looking forward to the most as we were touring Neuschwanstein. Unfortunately, the weather was awful as it was cold, rainy, and foggy, but we were still stoked. While the weather was bad, we still enjoyed our bus ride over and seeing the castle from the bus felt unreal.

This castle is gorgeous. I was genuinely in awe the whole time as I hadn’t seen anything that compares to this castle. Nothing in America is even slightly similar. Unfortunately, the fog made the pictures not as good but also gave it a kind of mysterious vibe that I really appreciated and made me feel like I was in a movie. The long walk up the hill in the freezing rain was rough but also totally worth it.

We took our time going around the different trails getting pictures from different angles and then it was time for our tour of the inside of the castle. The castle was never finished as Ludwig II died before it could be complete so there are only 9 finished rooms. Unluckily for us only 4 of those rooms were open for tours as the other 5 were being restored. Seeing these 4 rooms, however, was totally worth it as they were absolutely magnificent. The paintings on the wall of legends and stories were unreal and you could tell Ludwig II really cared about his art.

Finally, we saw a beautiful church that on the outside looked cool but nothing special, but on the inside was gorgeous. All the paintings all over the walls and ceilings and all the gold pieces everywhere was definitely worth the quick stop. Tomorrow is presentation day so now it’s time to finish getting prepped for that!
