Foggy day at a castle

View from bridge.

This was a day I was looking forward to the whole trip. Finally, we got to go to the Neuschwanstein castle. Since I was little I have been dreaming about visiting this castle so to see it was a dream come true. The bus ride was early in the morning and long so I got a quick little nap in. Only a couple minutes after we arrived it started down pouring, thank god I brought an umbrella! Before we hiked up to the castle we stopped in the village to sight see a little and take pictures by a huge lake and grab some breakfast.

The hike up to the castle was said that it was going to take 45 minutes, which seemed like a lot. As the trip went on the rain started to get heavier and the temperature kept getting colder. Kat and I decided to wear dresses on this day just to be a little more fancy, so we were even colder. The walk only ended up taking us about 15 minutes in total, so we definitely cut the time by a lot. We decided to take a group photo on a lookout in front of the castle, even though we were all very happy to be there, none of us looked like it. We were soaked and taking a picture in the rain, so you can guess how we all looked. Before our tour started we went on a little adventure to find a bridge that was surrounded by a couple waterfalls that gave us the best point of view at the whole landscape. I never really have a problem with heights, but the second I stepped onto this rocky bridge I felt so uneasy. Anytime someone would walk by you, the boards of the bridge would shift and it was really spooky.

It was finally time for our tour of this castle. We scanned our tickets and proceeded to walk through the great pathways to enter the castle. Once inside, we were given a tour guide and given these phone like devices so we would be able to hear our tour guide at all times. Inside of the castle we were not allowed to take pictures, but every room we went into had so much detail and were all gorgeous. We did not get to see the whole castle because The King died before it was finished being built and those building it decided to not complete the inside. Once the tour was over we all found our way into the gift shop and met up back outside. We started to walk back down the hill and we found a restaurant that we stopped at to grab a bite to eat. Outside of the restaurant was a stand that sold original powered donuts that everyone enjoyed. We had a good lunch and after eating, ventured back down the hill. By this point in the day everyone is soaked, tired and cold. We were all still enjoying our time though.

We were back on the bus and we’re now on our way to a cathedral called the Pilgrimage Church of Weis, that seemed to be in the middle of no where. When I stepped inside I was amazed of how gorgeous it was. This is by far one of the prettiest cathedrals I have ever been in.

It had been raining the whole day so we ended the day a little early and went back to the hotel. Of course the second Colleen (my roommate) and I got back to the room we immediately took another nap (I feel like we bonded through always napping). When we woke up we went to the University to meet with our group for the last time before presentation day. WHICH IS TOMORROW!
