Today we visited Foodcloud headquarters. I was very excited for this visit as this was my assigned company to research. Upon arrival, I had many questions about the business model and logistics of the company. Brian, our designated tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the company and its values. He had been volunteering there since he was a junior in high school! The model of the company is half social enterprise and half non-profit. They pay their employees through the small percent of revenue earned through partnership. They rely heavily on volunteers with a ratio of 75 to 25. With the generosity of these volunteers it has allowed Foodcloud to flourish.
On our site visit I was amazed by Foodcloud’s community impact. Through their 10 years of operation they have helped more than 300,000 people and made over a million meals. I was very excited to know that even though their business is primarily B2B, they will never turn down an individual in need. Lastly, not only do they impact their community but I left feeling inspired. Brian talked of the 412 Food Rescue group and I hope to help in this program in the upcoming school year.
