Castle on a Hill

Today we got up bright and early to travel to see the castle in Neuschwanstein. We had a decently long bus ride to the castle so I got to sleep a bit more on the ride there. Once we got there it started to rain but that wasn’t going to stop us. We stopped first by the lake, which was gigantic, to take some quick group photos.

After we mentally prepared to make the trip up to the castle we started to make our way. The walk took us about 15 minutes which went a lot faster than expected. At this point, it was pouring therefore everyone was drenched. I unfortunately was not prepared for the rain so I was soaked by the time we made it to the top. At the top of the mountain there was a little landing in front of the mountain, so our group took another group photo there.

Once everyone was done taking photos, we ventured over to the bridge to get a different perspective of the castle. This was a really cool experience but we unfortunately couldn’t see much as there was a lot of fog. I enjoyed the view but I was a little freaked out by the bridge as the boards kept shifting under everyone’s weight, so I was eager to get off.

By this time it was time for our tour of the castle. The tour itself was very short and we were sadly not allowed to take any photos. Most rooms in the castle were under construction so we didn’t get to see a lot but what we did see was amazing. I’ve never seen anything like this before so it was definitely a cool experience. I also learned that the castle was never finished. After the tour we made our way to the gift shop. There I picked up the final gifts I needed to bring back home to family.

Once everyone was done buying gifts and venturing through the museum, we started our journey back down the mountain. At about a third of the way down, we stopped for some traditional powered donuts and some lunch. This was a nice escape from the rain and pit stop to rest a little. After lunch we continued our hike down the mountain which passed by fairly quickly, even though we got stuck behind a horse drawn carriage.

We then got onto the bus and made our way to a beautiful cathedral. There we walked around for a bit to explore the inside which was stunning. Then since it was still pouring we cut our day short and went back to the hotel. At the hotel I passed out almost immediately after a day filled with walking. When I finally woke up, I met with my group to finalize our presentation for the next day. Wish us luck!
