Day 11: Czeching Out.

This trip to Prague (and the rest of the Czech Republic) has been extremely eye-opening for me in a few ways. I am so thankful for the opportunity to fully immerse myself in a brand-new culture for the last two weeks. Perhaps more impactful than the cultural experience was the social one. Before this trip, I knew very few of the 13 other students, but at this point, I have strong relationships with many of them, and without traveling together, we would never have had the chance to get close. I am also very grateful to all of the companies that gave us valuable time out of their day just for us to learn more about what they do.

In terms of advice for people planning on going to Prague, there are a few things I can say:

  1. Learn a little bit of Czech. I knew none of the language for my trip, and this was okay, but if I had started the trip with some bare necessities (Please, thank you, yes, no, etc.), it would have been a little bit easier to have interactions with locals over the trip.
  2. Bring cold medicine. By the end of the first week, almost everyone on the trip was dealing with some sort of cold, and if we had prepped a little better, we would definitely not have been hit as hard as we were.
  3. Get out there! Explore as much as possible. Prague has so much history & culture, and it’s all just waiting for you to learn about and experience it. So, go out, have fun, and embrace being uncomfortable!
