The End to an Adventure

Unfortunately, today is the day we left Cyprus to journey back home. It was bittersweet to return to the Unites States because I, like many other members of the group, was excited to relax and see my family, but I was also sad to end our adventure in Cyprus. During the trek back to the U.S., I had time to reflect on our trip and the parts that were most valuable to me. When reflecting on all of our experiences, I found one of the most rewarding parts of the program to be the people that I met throughout it. The other students on the trip quickly became close friends of mine, and I felt that we experienced many unique experiences together. Futhermore, the individuals we met in connection with UNIC, and the program coordination organization were excellent, and I learned many things from them. Additionally, I felt as though Cyprus was one of the places where I most connected with the locals. I had many fascinating conversations with people who lived in Cyprus their entire lives. I also talked with individuals from various countries who were in Cyprus for differing reasons. Talking to people from a place that varies greatly from the one I grew up in is one of my favorite parts of traveling. I feel that it helps one to understand a country in a way that they can not otherwise.

The site visits and cultural visits were extremely beneficial and increased my knowledge about supply chain, business, and Cypriot culture. I immensely enjoyed our visits to the villages and other cities. I felt more connected with Cyprus when I learned about its varying landscape and different lifestyles. Overall, this trip encourages me to take part in more of Pitt’s global programs. Similarly to the last program I engaged in, I came out from the experience with a wider perspective about the world and myself. I hope to go on more trips similar to this one in the future and grow throughout them
