Long Way to Home!

This is my last blog of the trip, and unfortunately, it was not a very fun day! Today was entirely spent flying home from Cyprus, which for me was a journey that lasted about 22 hours! At 12:00 a.m. on Friday, we promptly departed from our hotel and went to the airport. Our flight was at 3 a.m., which I actually ended up liking, surprisingly. The reason for this is that I slept through the literal entire flight, falling asleep before we took off and only fully waking up as we landed. After arriving in Frankfurt, I unfortunately said all my goodbyes to people, as I was flying home alone. I was sad to say goodbye to members of our group, but I wasn’t heartbroken. The reason for this is that I know I’m not saying my final goodbyes to any of them, and instead we will see each other again as we’ve become close friends. After saying goodbye to everyone, I proceeded over to my gate, and it hit me that I was flying home alone internationally. I was a little nervous, but overall I was fine, as I’ve flown solo before. The only extra precaution I took was waiting at my gate earlier than normal because I absolutely did not want to risk missing my flight. The actual flight home for me was quite long, but overall not too bad. I got lucky that no one else was in my row, so I was able to stretch out and sleep lying down! This made my flight go by much quicker. When I finally landed and saw my parents, I had mixed feelings. On one hand, I was extremely happy to see my family and get to spend time with them, though on the other hand, I know home is going to be a lot more slow-paced and boring than what Cyprus or Pitt were like. Reflecting back on the trip in general, I’ve got to say that this was the best decision that I made my freshman year, and I’m glad that I got to experience everything that I did. Overall, today was a long but extremely pleasant day of travel!
