With 23 hours of airports and flying and 46 hours total of being awake, hallucinations set in as we traveled back to the States. Briefly after the alumni dinner, I sipped upon one of Cyprus’s key components to society, espresso. After drinking this delight, I understood why it’s regarded highly as I received a jot of energy, which was enough to get me to the airport and on the plane with plenty of energy. This was not helpful however when trying to fall asleep on the plane ride from Larnaca to Frankfurt. Caffeine coupled with two people suffering medical complications on the plane resulted in no sleep for me as I reminisce about my time in Cyprus where I was in my happy place.
After this flight, I was grumpy as I was robbed of sleep and now awake for a whole 24 hours. But how could my travel experience be more annoying, the first of two long layovers. While in the airport, I bought a flatbread pizza, and it brought a little joy to me as it was a 6.4/10 on the eatery scale. To refresh, the eatery scale is a scale based on the eatery quality food being a 5/10. If the food is better, it is ranked higher than 5, but if it’s worse it is rated less than a 5. With this being said our next meal was on the plane, being chicken and mashed potatoes, bread, quinoa, and a brownie for dessert. Overall, this meal was carried by the mashed potatoes, being a 7.8/10. This was due to the relatively good chicken, mashed potatoes, and brownie, but the quinoa and bread were not good. After this meal, a sandwich arrived which was pretty good, around 8.3/10. Shortly after, we landed in JFK, made it through customs, and got our bags- making our journey to JFK a success.
In JFK, the layover was long thus allowing me to try American culture foods, Dunkin Donuts. A warm yet not very good breakfast sandwich was the perfect dinner. It was on par with the eatery so it was a 5/10. Finally, after a short plane ride, I arrived in Boston where I now reside. And this concludes my Cyprus vacation.
