With our bus for the airport leaving at midnight, the night time flight didn’t feel real. It was hard to believe our two week adventures were finally over. On the bus ride we listened to music before we all went our separate ways.
After our flight out of Cyprus in Larnaca to Frankfurt, checking in for the flight to Newark I was randomly searched. United brought me to a secluded area where they swabbed my backpack, waistline, and contents of my backpack. It was a shock when the swab came back red and the police were called. After asking me to unlock all of my devices, they let me go and one of the workers said it was an issue of homeland security. I feel like it would have been an invasion of privacy if we were in the U.S. Nonetheless, I wanted nothing to do with the German police and eventually left.
Reflecting on the trip, I have an awakened desire to go back and travel Cyprus and all of Europe. The culture is so similar yet so different from home I want to learn more about it. Plus3 was one of the best decisions I ever made, giving me more of an insight into what industry I want to work in. I met amazing people and got a chance to learn more about the world. Thank you to Pitt, UNIC, Jodi, and Dr. Streiner for giving me this opportunity, it will be missed!
