Introducing Me

Hello everyone,

My name is Samantha Britton, but most people call me Sammie. I am from a small town in Illinois, which is about an hour north of Chicago. I am currently a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh studying business. I am still undecided on what field I want to go in, however I am leaning towards the marketing side. In my free time, I like to play videogames, listen to music, and watch the disappointment that is Chicago sports. On campus, I am apart of Women in business. While I have decided not to get a job on campus yet, I will be rejoining my former job in the summer.

Even though I have been abroad once before, I am excited to participate in the Plus 3 program in South Korea. When looking through the programs, South Korea instantly grabbed my attention because they have many companies at the forefront of technological advancement. Additionally, the program gives me an opportunity to go to Asia, which I never imagined myself having the ability to do.

When deciding to choose South Korea, I must confess I had very little knowledge about the country. However, my brother-in-law, who was stationed there, spoke highly about it. His glowing reviews sparked my interest in wanting to learn more about Korea. I view this program as a way to broaden my knowledge and global experience. I hope through this, I am able to learn more about the culture, food, and history that it has to offer.

While I do not know exactly what I want to do, I have always considered getting a certificate in International Business. Through this experience, I hope to obtain a better understanding if I want to continue. Nonetheless, the experience provided will prove invaluable. As I feel it will help build my communication skills, while improving my ability to work with other people. Additionally, this could be a good opportunity to work on networking.

Overall, I am very excited about going to South Korea. I am most looking forward to attending the Korean baseball game, as baseball is my favorite sport. With just a month to go, I am eagerly waiting for the day to arrive.
