Wondering about William?

Hello everyone, my name is William Eddis. I’m a freshman business student at The University of Pittsburgh and while I’m currently undecided I plan on double majoring here at Pitt Business in some combination of Marketing, Global Management, and Supply Chain. I grew up in Springfield Township, Pennsylvania. A suburb just north of Philadelphia. I went to Springfield Township High School where I was an honors student and in the National Honors Society.

So far at Pitt, I’ve joined the business fraternity Phi Chi Theta, participated in the Ski and Snowboard Club, and of course was accepted into the Plus 3 program where I will be getting the amazing opportunity to travel to Cyprus for two weeks where we will primarily focus on the Supply Chain and Logistics present there. When choosing a program I looked at the list of offered locations and gravitated towards the options of countries I would never immediately think to travel to. Cyprus definitely caught my eye, it’s in such an interesting and important location in the world being right in between 3 continents. I thought it would be super interesting to travel there to see what it’s all about.

When I travel to Cyprus this coming May I am looking forward to not only learning more about Supply Chain, something I have really just started to learn all about but also be able to visualize and see Logistics in action. Cyprus’ shipping industry has a vital role in our world, 7% of the national GDP is thanks to Cyprus’ vast and expansive shipping industry. I also am really looking forward to embracing a new culture. I’ve already began to learn and research the country of Cyprus, its history, culture, and geography and I cannot wait to see how people on this country live and hopefully will be able to compare it to life here in the US to see what’s similar and what is different.

Thanks for reading my first blog post! I look forward to sending updates once I get closer to leaving for Cyprus!
