Hello! My name is Therese Nneji, however I commonly go by my middle name, Uche. I am from a military immigrant family, but spent my high school years in Prince George’s County, Maryland. I am currently a freshman at the Swanson School of Engineering majoring in bioengineering and majoring in linguistics. I hope to be involved in prosthesis and biotechnology post-grad and have a special interest in design. I also really enjoy ancient history and cultural study. My favorite hobbies are writing, dancing and skating. I’m a currently a member of the Ya’Baso Dance Team here at Pitt and will be serving as the Public Relations Co-Chair next year! I love going out to eat and love a good dance party.
I am very excited to be a part of Plus3 Korea. I strongly believe that expanding is an important part of learning. Going to a different country and culturally immersing is important to personal growth and understanding other people. I want my future employment to positively affect all kinds of people and that starts with learning to be open-minded and understanding. We also have an opportunity to tour various companies with high-tech engineering, something I hope to really familiarize myself with and work closely with. Also, Taekwondo!
South Korea is a culturally rich and attractive country in its own right as well. It’s a beautiful nation with gorgeous terrain, known for its technology, media, and beauty products. I’m hoping to go shopping and bring home some products! I have put a lot of effort these past few months towards learning basic Korean in hopes that I will experience as much of the country as possible from the food to the beaches and regular traditions. I am so thankful for this opportunity and for the people who helped make it possible for me to take this trip. This will most definitely be something that I remember for years to come.
