Introduction: Justin Engblom

Hello everyone, my name is Justin Engblom and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh. I am currently enrolled in the Swanson School of Engineering and my intended major is mechanical engineering. I am from Collegeville Pennsylvania which is on the other side of PA so I’m about 45 minutes from Philadelphia. Back home I have 3 younger sisters and a dog. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with friends, doing something outside like going for a walk, playing basketball, and spending time with family. This summer, I will be going on the Plus3 study abroad program to Cyprus to learn more about the islands supply chain.

This trip will be my second time traveling outside the country and I am very excited for it. Last summer was my first time abroad where I visited Italy and spent time in Florence, Venice, and Rome. This experience heavily influenced my desire to study abroad this summer because it was such an amazing experience being in a new environment with a different culture. My decision to come to Cyprus was mostly based on the fact that I didn’t know much about it and the environment seemed much different. After looking into Cyprus more I discovered how beautiful the island is and my interest for how the island works grew. I am really looking forward to going and learning about the islands complex supply chain.

On this trip, I look forward to meeting with the companies there and learning more about how they operate on the island. I also hope to gain more knowledge about the supply chain because it is something that interests me. This trip is an opportunity to figure out what exactly I want to do with my engineering degree and what types of companies I may want to work for. I am really looking forward to getting further insight on the culture and different experiences the island has to offer while meeting new people along the way.
