Hello! My name is Abby Johns and I’m from Chappaqua, New York (it’s about 40 minutes outside New York City). I am a first-year nursing student at the University of Pittsburgh. I’m involved in the campus Nursing Student Association (NSA) and joined the sorority Alpha Delta Pi. I plan on graduating with my BSN, planning to work in either pediatrics or the NICU, and hopefully doing some travel nursing. I may go back to school and become a nurse practitioner.
In my free time, I love to explore new places, whether going for a drive around where I live or to another country. I love hanging out with my friends and my dog Oakley. I also enjoy cooking, listening to music, and exercising.
I chose to partake in the Plus3 Argentina program to expand my knowledge of healthcare systems. I’m interested to dive deeper into how Argentina’s healthcare systems compare to the one we have in the US. Argentina’s system has developed greatly through globalization from things such as immigration. Learning about other healthcare systems allows us to be more knowledgeable on how to create the best systems for our patients. I’m hoping that this experience will allow me to learn new things that I can apply to my career as a nurse.
