Goodbye Pittsburgh, Hello Seoul

It is May 3, less than 24 hours before my departure to Korea. The last week has been much more relaxing than the week prior. After finals, I was able to go home for a week and relax. Yesterday, I arrived in Pittsburgh and stayed overnight with some friends in preparation for today. I checked into Nordenberg at 12:30 and met my overnight roommate, Felipe. Since my flight tomorrow is at 6:00am, I don’t plan on even sleeping tonight. The bus leaves at 3:00am and we must be in the lobby by 2:45am. I know sleep deprivation may not be ideal, but I’m willing to try it in hopes of falling asleep more easily on the plane. My flight schedule for the next 30 or so hours is Pittsburgh to Atlanta then, Atlanta to Seoul. The flight from Atlanta to Seoul is 16 hours. I despise flying and this is the part of the trip I am least looking forward to. Luckily, I have brought melatonin to sleep, and I’ve downloaded a season of Game of Thrones to watch on the plane. Though I am nervous for the flight, I am so excited to embark on this trip. I am thrilled to partake in this excursion across the world and see the opportunities that will arise. I have made a short list of places I’d like to visit in my free time: Seoul Tower, Gwangjang market, starfield library and the Myeongdong night market. I look forward to seeing the new cultural experiences, trying new food and learning more about the history of South Korea. I have a predeparture meeting at four and a dinner afterwards. I plan on eating a good bit since I’d prefer to not spend an outrageous amount of money on food at the airport tomorrow.
