After a long day of traveling, we arrived in the Netherlands bright and early this morning and got right to it. We took a train to our hotel in Sloterdijk to drop off our luggage, and then we completed a scavenger hunt around Amsterdam. This scavenger hunt was very interactive and intriguing, as we got to see what Amsterdam is like. It’s very different from the United States in that there are a lot more bicycles and pedestrians than cars. I actually kind of like it but there’s a good chance you get hit by a bicyclist.

After the scavenger hunt we were able to relax for a while and then it was time to get back to the hotel for check in. To get around we had to use the Netherlands public transportation system. Something to note is that transportation around Europe is highly advanced compared to the United States. We learned about all the types of transportation including the metro, tram, and bus, and how to use them because we will be using these modes of transportation throughout the week. Amsterdam Centraal was a cool site to see as it was so busy and contained all the modes of transportation around the city.
We finally had some time to relax at the hotel, but then it was time for dinner. We finished the night off with a dinner at a restaurant called Coco’s Outback, where I tried kangaroo for the first time.
