Day 1: Exploring Augsburg/Fuggerei tour

This morning, we got off the plane and continued through customs until we started the hour trip back to Augsburg. Once we arrived, we were greeted with everything we needed to know to start exploring Augsburg and took off to grab a bite around the quad while listening to some history of the town. Learning about the church and how much the bombs affected the town put everything into perspective.

After we walked around we got to check into our hotel where we turned right back around to visit the Fuggerei and hear about the history of the Fugger family. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. We even got to visit the underground bunker when Augsburg was being bombed. Being able to see what we have been learning about has been fascinating and I look forward to the next two weeks!

After the Fuggerei tour, we went straight to dinner where we met some of the German students who will help us with the group presentations here in Augsburg. Getting to know what the students are studying and their take on different topics was quite interesting. I tried something new, Pork Schnitzel, and it was so good. After dinner, we headed back to get some snacks and water before calling it a night in the hotel!
