We’re Here!

After what felt like an eternity of traveling, we are finally in Germany! I cannot believe this trip is finally here, there was so much excitement and anticipation leading up to the program and it is now in action!

Today was a very busy day, regardless of how jet lagged and hungry we were, but fun and educational nonetheless. Upon landing, we attended a very brief meeting with the German faculty where they gave us generous gifts (a tote, information packets, mug, USB drive, pens, and some spending Euros). From there we took a short stroll over to a local bakery to eat some sandwiches and pretzels to hold us over until dinner later at night. We then checked into our rooms, freshened up and got ready for the actives!

We then took a tour of the Fuggerei, which was housing provided to the needy in the 16th century. We had an amazing tour guide who taught us the history behind the area as well as taking us inside the housing. My biggest take-away from this tour was that housing there is 88 cents for the year! From there we met up with the German students for a traditional German dinner. I had a turkey schnitzel which tasted just like Thanksgiving dinner. Now that the day is over I cannot wait to see what tomorrow has in store!
