A Chocolate-of Fun

We’ve finally reached day two of exploring Amsterdam and we kicked off today with an early start! I finally caught up with my jet lag a little so it was a bit easier to get through the day. We started the morning off with a canal cruise through the city! We got to learn many new facts about some famous and historical buildings throughout the city, such as the city’s library, the Anne Frank house, and all of the city’s canals. We even got to see some house boats up close!

After the tour we had a quick lunch break so I got to grab a coffee at the Amsterdam library, which was huge and so beautiful both on the outside and in. After our lunch break we then headed over to Cacao and Spice chocolate company for some tasting and another walking tour! We got to try a large variety of different and unique chocolates while also learning about sustainable practices and Amsterdam’s initiative to bring in small and sustainable entrepreneurs. Some chocolates that we got to learn about the creation process of and taste include variety of cacao percentages, nut and floral combinations, and even a spicy chocolate to finish! I picked up some chocolate for myself and my family after tasting a few and also purchased some tea leaf blends and honey soap that are also sourced sustainably.

We then took a walking tour of the city for the second half of our company visit to learn about the history of the city and see some notable buildings and places to eat and shop. The tour was so great and informative! Afterwards we had a few hours to ourselves so I picked up some more souvenirs for myself and friends and we sat down for an Italian dinner of bread and pasta! We managed to figure out the tram system to find our way home and crash for an early rise tomorrow to see the tulips. Looking forward to it!
