Blog post day 1- Chelsea Wasdick

Today we visited and toured the sites of Kourion and the Kolossi castle. Then we also participated in a walking tour. What I thought what very interesting about the Kourion was that the theater used for different types of shows throughout its time was still standing for us to see today. It is known as the most historical place in Cyprus!

The castle was one of the most important forts of medieval cyprus. The castle was a popular place for attacks due to the production and trade of sugar. In the castle there are 3 floors including the roof. Both the first and second floor are very open and equipped with fire places. The main floor seems as it was used as dining and entertainment room. The second floor seemed to be used for accommodation as the Grand Commander.

The most interesting part of the day I would say was the guided walking tour and the castle. it was fun to be able to learn more about the sites of Cyprus along with how they now use the old sites for new moderations. Our tour guide was very informative about all the sites and the areas we visited. We learned about the cats around Cyprus and how they often linger and I thought it was super cool to see them in person.
