Day 1 in Vietnam

As we met the UEF students and explored Ho Chi Minh, what stood out to me was everyone’s kindness and excitement. Even when there were some moments throughout the day when we didn’t understand something, all of the people we’ve met were very patient with us and extremely helpful. The UEF students were also very informative during out city tour. They told us all about the different monuments we drove past and the districts we drove through. They also gave us recommendations of activities, restaurants, and places to try during our stay. As we toured the city, I noticed how the city has many universities because Vietnam is expanding and advancing their education.

At the Welcome Dinner, I was surprised to see a lot of fruit combined with other food, such as watermelon with cheese and cucumbers with tuna on top. For breakfast, I had chicken and noodles with pork at the hotel’s morning buffet. I read in the Culture Smart book that phở was common to eat for breakfast in Vietnam, so I was surprised not to see any this morning.
