After being delayed for hours and stuck in the airport attempting to sleep on the floor, and talking through the night to stay awake, we finally made it to Bueno Aires! We received a warm welcome from the IES staff, who made sure we were okay and gave us delicious dulce de leche treats! There kindness was noticeable as soon as they began shaking all of our hands and introducing themselves, and from that I knew that during this trip I would receive kindness and help from the people of Buenos Aires. The dinner they gave us was great, and we all got to sit down and talk, and were able to see a great view of the city at night.
During our first full day today, I greatly enjoyed our lunch with IES, followed by our lectures from Gabriel Novick and Luis Jiminez. I have in fact traveled abroad before, but traveling abroad with an educational purpose is a rewarding feeling. I feel like in just one day I have learned so much about the Argentinian Healthcare system, as well as how the cultural and financial aspects tie into everything as well. It helped me to gain a better understanding of what is to come in the more we learn, and to help guide our final projects. Lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed our tango class taught by the instructors. I love dancing already and so I enjoyed learning a new style of dance, dancing with my classmates, and seeing everyone have a lot of fun.
After this full day, me and a few friends decided to go walk around and ended up going into a mall as well as exploring the streets with shops. We ended up eating dinner at Santos Manjares which was so delicious, and everyone was very friendly, I am excited for what is to come in the rest of the days here in Buenos Aires. What a great first day!
