Today we got the chance to eat breakfast with Damaris and her husband Carlos. This meal was served with the fresh pineapple and bananas that Costa Rica had to offer. Our walk up to the square in the morning was very pleasant and it was very interesting getting to explore this new city. Once we arrived and the central park we got to go see the market which had a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and meats to choose from. Seeing a market like this is very different from what I am used to in the U.S because you either go to the supermarket to buy food or some specialty butcher or farmer to get a specific food item.
After our morning walk we went to get lunch at a sit down restaurant and they had some amazing appetizers and an even better main course. I personally got a churrasco which is not something you can get in the U.S. and I even ordered it in Spanish. Getting to use my Spanish after all this time and not messing up has been a breath of fresh air. After lunch we took the bus to the Oxigeno mall where we got to see an amazing view from the top of it. We then walked around the mall and got to see an awesome star wars exhibit in the main area.
From this amazing day I learned that Costa Rica had a large amount of diversity in both people, vegetation, and entertainment. They have so many species of animal, fruit, and plant that every day you can learn about a new one which I just find so amazing. There is always a new flavor to try and from conversation with my host family it seems there are always new people from other Latin American countries to meet.
