Hola y bienvenido a Buenos Aires! After a very interesting airport experience, we finally landed in Buenos Aires in one piece. Although it was dark, it was clear that the city was alive and ready for us. On our drive, it was very interesting to see how wide the roadways were, and how many different cars were on the roads compared to the US. Our first steps into the hotel showed that we were going to be living in the perfect location for this trip. Our rooms are spacious and comfortable, and very well kept.
While in IES, our dinner was a delightful asado filled with different meats and sides that was the perfect way to start our immersion in Argentine culture. We decided to venture around the city after dinner and explore our surroundings. The locals were so respectful and wanted to engage with us in conversation. If there was ever any confusion or trouble, they would come over and assist us through translation or just moving them away.

We also decided to take a nice walk over to the park looking for some famous monuments. On the walk, we were able to see even more of the city, and what was around. The roads were surprisingly quiet, with not too many cars or people really around. It definitely still had some aspects of any city, but everything from the marble sidewalks to beautiful porches made it very unique and special.

Today, we were able to see the city in the daylight, and get a better feel for our surrounding areas. Everyone in this city is very put together, and clearly cared about the way they presented themselves. One thing that was a shock was how pedestrians don’t actually have the right of way on the streets. That is definitely something to get used to as we stay around the city. The amount of buses and public transportation was also very interesting to see, and I hope to try it at least once. We also got to take a tango class today, which was another really great immersion to the culture.

So far, I have loved every second being in Buenos Aires and cannot wait to keep exploring the city and other neighborhoods. Stay tuned for what’s on the agenda for tomorrow…buenos noche!
