Our journey to Argentina was certainly nothing short of unexpected. After a smooth flight to Atlanta we found out that our red eye flight was pushed to the morning. A night that we would have spent peacefully sleeping on the plane shifted to an all nighter in the Atlanta Airport. The night brought the group together as we tried to find ways to fill the time. Not sleeping made the flight go by quickly, as I slept 7 of the 10 hours. After we touched the ground everything else went to plan. We were greeted by our IES coordinators and brought to an Argentine barbeque. We were served various cooked vegetables, chorizo, steak, and bread. It tasted amazing and it was a great start to the trip. After going to our rooms and unpacking, a few of us decided to go on an adventure out to look around the city. We got to see some of the beautiful architecture before calling it a night.

We woke up this morning excited for our first real day in the country. We started the morning with hotel breakfast before we walked over to IES. They had a safety presentation where we learned a lot of tips about navigating the new city. After lunch we walked over to the Universidad of Austrial where we had two lectures ahead of us. Dr. Gabriel Novick gave us a presentation on Argentinas healthcare system summarizing the lectures we had during the spring semester. After we had a much needed pick me up coffee break and Alfajores. Alfajores are an Argentinian sandwich cookie that are delicious. Next we had a lecture from the past Minister of Health of Buenos Aires where he addressed his experiences and taught us more about what the Ministry of Health does. The last stop of our day was back at IES where we enjoyed more coffee and lemon cookies while we awaited a tango lesson. I was a little nervous because I am not very good at dancing but I had so much fun. The teachers were so fun and engaging. It was so funny laughing at each other struggling and getting to try a new thing. Our trip may not have started how we expected but I can not wait for the rest of the trip.
