Our second day began with two classes at UEF. The first lecture was on rural development along the Mekong Delta, where we discussed the region’s infrastructure and modern sustainable developments along the delta. Next, we had our first Vietnamese language class, which was very fun although difficult. After lunch, we attended our first company visit to TTT Corporation.
TTT Corporation is a leading Vietnamese company in interior construction and design. Their designs and products are featured primarily in high-end hotels and offices across Vietnam. I was very impressed by the factory tour and the various stations that we visited. It was interesting to see the entire process of building their customized furniture, from framing and sanding to painting and finishing. TTT Corporation is also dedicated to sustainable practices in the world of interior design and architecture. Many of their clients are large and well-established businesses as they have enough money to spend on sustainable infrastructure. TTT receives guidelines on sustainability from their clients and then follows strict procedures on waste management and air quality assurance during construction to meet these demands. Design teams work with engineers and the BIM modeling software to effectively outline sustainable furniture and building designs before construction begins. I am interested in studying sustainability within my field of engineering, so their presentation was incredibly insightful. I also appreciated how the company provided a different perspective on sustainability and how the relevancy of the topic changes from industry to industry. In general, I was very impressed by TTT’s dedication to sustainability as a pioneer in its industry and I had a wonderful time visiting the company today.
