Our second day started off with a class on the Mekong Delta at UEF with a guest speaker. After that we learned some basic Vietnamese with the help of a UEF professor and students. These classes were fun to learn about the culture and language of the country we’re staying in for two weeks.
After the classes and lunch we made our way to our first site visit, a company called TTT, which specializes in sustainable, high end interior design. This company has sustainability as a top priority and makes sure they each of their clients achieve the sustainability goals that they want, and achieve all necessary certifications and objectives from the Vietnam government. TTT showed us their entire design process, from 2d sketches, to 3d computer-aided design, to the manufacturing and production process. One of the parts that I thought was the most interesting was that during the 3d modeling process, they simulate the airflow in the entire building to assess how to make the building more energy efficient. After showing us their process we took a tour of their production facility, and saw all steps of that process as well. We saw everything from the initial building of the pieces to the finishing touches done by their staff.
This company visit was very interesting as we were able to see the entire process they go through with each project for their sustainable buildings they work on throughout south east Asia.
