Starting off day 2 of our trip, we got to experience riding the tram for the first time to head to the University of Augsburg. Upon arrival, we made our way to the Mervis Hall of Augsburg. Something I noticed that was different from Pittsburgh is that everything was a lot more quiet. No students were rushing to and from classes, most study spaces were empty, and the area was very clean. My favorite part was seeing the goats outside of the classroom that were there to help with the overgrown grass.
It was so exciting to get to know the German students in our presentation groups for our company visits. They were all so friendly and very interested in learning about us as much we were them. It is a different perspective hearing about the life of someone who is the same age as you, but growing up in a different part of the world. Hearing how different their courses are set up, such as only having a cumulative final at the end of the semester that makes up most of their grade. Another surprising thing was that they do not do group work for classes very often. The majority of the time, anything that is due for class is an individual assignment.

After getting to know our group members and researching the companies, we set out on a tour of the university and the city. This was great getting to know the German students who will be at Pitt in the Fall, however, it began pouring on us during the tour which made it difficult to continue walking through the city. We ended up having a great dinner at an Italian restaurant called al Drago. I got pizza with garlic and basil and split it with Kalynn who got spaghetti bolognese which was also delicious. Overall, It was a really great day seeing the University and exploring the city.
