We rose for a bright and early start of 6 am this morning for our adventure! After taking a quick breakfast to go we made our first stop to Royal Flora Holland on the bus. Royal Flora Holland hosts the largest flower auction in the whole world and you can definitely tell! The flower facility spans for a space of 250 football fields. Around every corner flowers are being pushed in crates by mini carts and moving on tracks to get exactly where they’re supposed to be. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many flowers in my life!

After our visit to Royal Flora Holland we took the bus again to a local tulip field and flower farmer. Many of the flowers were already harvested but one span of red tulips was left in the field which was beautiful. We got to learn about the harvesting process and how tulips can be mutated and made into different colors.

After getting some pictures in the pretty flowers we went inside to watch a quick movie about the proceeds of harvesting tulips and their bulbs in a factory process. We had some more time to explore the gift shop and all the different seed varieties and I also got a snack of a Dutch waffle. They had a few paths displayed with the wide tulip varieties and colors that the company produced throughout the season.

Seeing this company really made me think about the personal roles I can take in my future businesses to navigate small businesses and challenges that may occur and be more difficult in comparison to large corporations such as Royal Flora Holland. After sitting down and taking in the tulips we bussed home around noon and I got to catch up on some sleep due to our early start! After taking a well needed nap we finally sat down for some Stampott, a traditional Dutch dinner of potatoes, kale, gravy, and meatballs. It was very very good and filling! Hopefully I’ll find some good dessert tonight and get ready for our adventure tomorrow.
