Today was our first day visiting company sites here in Cyprus. As usual I started my morning with some of the breakfast here at our hotel before getting on the bus to leave for the day.
Our bus departed and we headed off to our first of three companies we would be visiting today, Bernard Schulte Ship-management. This was the company I researched before coming here to Cyprus so it was definitely the company I was most eager to visit. When we arrived we were greeted and got a Quick Look at the building before being brought to a classroom where our guide gave an excellent and well delivered PowerPoint. He provided us with even more detail than was in my research and answered a lot of the questions we had for BSM before we even got to the question part of the lecture. We then toured around their building and saw all of the training simulators and were even able to use some of them. He also took us to a building they had directly on their water and showcased the diving suits they use to train people. This was a super interesting first company visit. I learned so much more about ship management and the entire industry was opened up to me as a result of this visit.

Next we headed off to Colombia Ship-management company. While a lot of the information was the same from BSM the presenters and representatives of the company definitely knew their stuff and made a great presentation that expertly showcased the company and all they had to offer and provide to their clients. They also gave us a gift bag which had a really nice water bottle and nice hat inside which were some of the greatest gifts I had ever gotten out of one of those bags.

Finally we visited Medochemie where we learned a lot about the supply chain of medicinal products. The lecture provided a lot of detail specifically on the supply chain aspect of their company which was very interesting and provided a perspective that the first two companies didn’t really focus on. They also took us on arguably the coolest tour of the 3 companies. We went into their warehouse that seemed to never end. We were able to understand exactly how they stored everything and that was really great to see in person.

Overall today was a really intriguing day where we were able to visit many companies that we researched prior to coming to Cyprus. All three presentations were great and informative and another great day here in Cyprus.
