Day 4 Forvia and Grob

We started our day early at Grob. Walking in, the environment was open and a much different experience than the previous company visit. The offered us some snacks and drinks. I tried this drink that mixed apple juice and sparkling water, it tasted exactly how you would expect it to taste. We had a quick introduction, learned about the goals of the company and then we started our factory tour.

The manufacturing buildings had a much different energy than the last company we visited. The workers had a whole lifestyle within the company. They have cafeterias, healthcare, the workers seemed to be joking a lot and smiling. We were given earpieces so we could hear what was being said without having to be packed together, and we were able to take our time and explore the company as a group. Grob is a company that makes the machines for other companies. In fact, they use their own machines to make other machines and items. After our tour we got back to the room and discussed the logistics side of the company. We looked at the differences between the German company and the US company and talked about career and internships options. Grob seems like it would be a great place to work at, and something I may look into for the future.

We weren’t allowed to take photos in the company but this is the lunch I had. It was delicious.

After Grob we got on a bus Forvia. Forvia is probably my favorite place we have visited so far. We had badges to scan to get into the building where we started by suiting up in a lab coat, our shoe protectors, and goggles. We started our company tour by meeting Walle before we headed in to look at the rest of the company. I really wish I could have taken photos of this one to show you guys and to show my brother. Forvia works on hand making and engineering pieces for large brands such as John Deer and Porsche. Specifically a GT3 r2 which was so cool to look at. We watched an assembly line which put together pieces of the car. Our tour guide described it as one of those rotating conveyor belts your see at sushi restaurants. These workers individually check weldings and parts before using them. We got to see all aspects of how these are made, which was so cool. After this we went back to our room and learned about the importance of hydrogen fueled cars for the future. I really loved Forvia, it may be my favorite of where we travelled so far. We learned that they gave US sites in Ohio and it may be something I look into for the future.

This is the only photo I have from this company visit. We decided to take photos because I think we can all agree that the safety gear made us all look smarter and more sophisticated.
