Day 4: Grob and Faurecia πŸš—

Today was a busy day packed with two company visits! We first headed to Grob where we were able to start off with an interesting presentation about the company and what it had to offer. The facility was huge and it had many different buildings where things were made. We started the tour in a building that had many different machines on display. There was a showroom in the middle which is super interesting as we were able to see each one in its entirety. The flexibility of the machines and the personalization that each had for each company was really cool to see.

It was super interesting to see the different buildings and what were in them. I was surprised to see the care and cleanliness of the facility. Moreover, each building was lit well and the employees were engaged with their work. We ended our Grob visit with a quick lunch in their cafeteria! I could definitely see myself working at the place like Grob. They seemed like they cared for their employees and wanted their success alongside the companies. The benefits that they offered to their employees were also strong.

We then hopped on the bus to Faurecia. Starting off with a quick presentation, and some refreshments, we then made our way to the floor to see production. It was interesting to see the levels of hands-on work for employees at each level. For the tractor parts, they required much more skilled and hands-on labor. The employees had to pick up the parts with some sort of suction technology and physically put them places. For the parts that were more repetitive and small, there was an employee at the beginning of circle that put the parts on the line and then machines took over for every other step until the finished part ended up back right where the employee was. They then took off the finished part and put it in a box to be shipped.

As a result, the employee did not have to do as much physical labor or move a lot. They had cameras to see important processes and monitor what was going on. They also touched on their new hydrogen gas explorations as the new frontiers to power vehicles. Hearing about this had me intrigued on this strong investment of their future, as it seems they still want to remain a strong company and have innovation. For this reason, I would also work for them as it is exciting to figure out new solutions to problems in our world and they seem on top of it!
