Attics, Museums, and Fries!

Today was absolutely amazing! We started the morning off by heading to Our Lord In The Attic, which is a museum about a secret Catholic church. It was so beautiful, and we had an amazing tour guide who was super informative! The church was opened because Catholicism was not allowed to be openly practiced in The Netherlands, because they wanted it to consist of Protestants.

After the museum tour, we had to get food. Since it is our last full day in Amsterdam, I had to try the famous fries. They were delicious. I got what the call the “Big Boy” with the Orllog sauce, which is mayo and a peanut sauce topped with raw onions. It was an out of world experience, but definitely a super heavy meal so I recommend eating just those.

We decided we need to go to the Rijksmuseum to see all of the iconic artwork! The building and architecture itself is absolutely beautiful, and the garden and fountains outside alone we could have spent hours at. But, of course, we had to be there for the Van Gogh and Rembrandt pieces. It did not disappoint. Going to museums is one of my favorite things to do when traveling to a new city, and I am so thankful I had this experience. We walked around the museum for a couple of hours before heading back to meet up with the rest of the group to do the tour of the Anne Frank House.

Taking the tour of the Anne Frank House was emotional to say the least. I was beyond touched and impressed with the presentation, and the manner at which they shared the information about her life. Being in the same place as where she lived and seeing the posters that have been on the walls, her dairy, the furniture, and the staircases was an experience I hope everyone can have. I wish I could attach photos, but they have a strict no camera policy. If you are in Amsterdam, this is something you have to visit.

I am sad to say we are departing from Amsterdam tomorrow and heading to Rotterdam after a site visit to Henri Willig! This city is amazing, and I cannot wait to explore what Rotterdam has to offer.
