Today, we met at IES to do a Q&A with Martsolf about the Argentina Healthcare. Although we discussed a lot about the healthcare’s structure, we also learned about each other, which is important as we will be spending another week together. I learned about Martsolf’s hatred for phones and the internet to my surprise. After the Q&A, we had delicious empanadas. I tried four different types of empanadas: cheese and tomato, corn, beef, and chicken.
However, the highlight of my day was Barrio Chino (China town) and Jardin de Japonesa (Japanese Garden). The garden was absolutely stunning, especially with the array of flowers and traditional Japanese architecture. I learned that it was built by the “Sudor” or sweat of Japanese immigrants in Argentina to represent and spread the beauty of their culture. After the garden, we took a taxi to Barrio Chino to eat dinner. For dinner, we had Hot Pot. However, the hot pot was different from the traditional hot pot that I usually have. Usually, there is a singular pot of soup in the middle with various meats, vegetables, and noodles for everyone to share. However, at this restaurant, each person filled their bowl with items they wanted and it was individually charged based on weight. After, we got boba and coffee at a cafe next door. In my opinion, coffee in Argentina isn’t enjoyable because it’s extremely watered down and bland sadly. It was extremely interesting to see an Asian population that spoke Spanish because I was unsure whether I should speak Spanish or English with them.
