Due to a labor union strike that we were notified about in the beginning of the week, we were no longer able to do our boat trip to Tigre, as well as our hospital visit. Although this was disheartening at first we kept our attitudes positive recognizing the benefits of a strike within the unions, and how it is admirable that they all stand with each other. So instead we started off the day at IES, having a casual Q&A session with Professor Martsolf, recapping the lectures we have done the past few days. I learned and got a lot clarified during this conversation, especially about Milei’s influence on the unions on a deeper level. I also thought it was it was interesting to listen to everyone’s opinions and comments on everything we have learned so far. It was very informative and definitely well needed to help organize my thoughts. After our conversations we all ate delicious empanadas provided by IES. My favorite was the jamon y queso!
Once we finished our morning off at IES, some friends and I decided to visit the Jardín Japonés. We did not know that there was a good amount of Japanese population within Argentina, and were so glad we were able to visit this beautiful site. It included so many things such as, muchas flores, peces koi, cascadas y edificios. After we left the garden we headed over to Barrio Chino, and we were surprised to see so much here! There were markets of snacks, shops, and great food places. We ended up trying a ramen place where you make your bowl uncooked, and then give it to the chefs and they cook it for you. It was something I have never done before and was a very cool experience. Then we went in some shops, and I got boba my favorite 🙂 It was definitely a lot of fun and I am glad I got to go with good people. I did not even know there was a china town in Argentina so it was rewarding to have fun while also seeing the heavy cultural influence within another country.
