Nonstop Seoul: Day 4

Today was by far the most hectic day of the trip so far. From 7 AM to 10 PM, the itinerary was packed to the gills. To start the morning we had a 7:15 meet time, barely enough to scarf down some breakfast, then headed on a long bus ride to Eaton. After getting out it was time to tour the mega-corporation of Eaton and its branch in Seoul. The introduction was fantastic and the group at Eaton that led the site visit was truly amazing. After the intro, we got a walking tour of the world-renowned factory that has won many safety and efficiency awards in the recent past. It was very clear to see how it was so successful as every worker knew their role but was valued and the working space was clean and safe, a perfect setup to allow anyone to be productive. After the closing remarks, we headed our separate ways and thanked our gracious hosts. Next was the world-renowned fish market in Seoul, bigger than any fish market in the US. While there Dr.Yun purchased some live squid to try and share with those interested, for which I was not. Then the group headed to what Dr.Yun called the Mall of America but for Seoul, The Hyundai Mall. 5 floors and hundreds of shops to look around it was truly spectacular. After window shopping, because I’m a college student and not the luxury mall’s target audience we went to the KBO baseball game between the Bears and the home team Heroes. This was my favorite experience of the entire trip so far despite arriving in a subway packed like sardines with afterword travelers and being exhausted from the packed day before. The local fans were so passionate about their team, practically standing all game. Each team’s fans memorized their own songs and dances and the experience rivaled any sporting event that I have ever been to. I look forward to telling you all about tomorrow and the experience of Taekwondo and touring city hall!
