After breakfast this morning, we took the subway to our Taekwondo class where we were taught some basic Taekwondo moves. We learned basic punches, blocks, ands kicks. One cool exercise we did for punching was holding some cloth in front of us, then dropping the cloth and having to punch and catch it with the other hand. After that, we had to drop the cloth and pull back and catch the cloth with the same hand. It was harder to do it with one hand, but I think I did alright. At the end, we all got to break a board by lifting our leg and stomping down on the board. Another cool thing was the day before we were able to order a custom belt with our name on it for 10,000 won, so I got one.

After Taekwondo, we went for a tour of Seoul City Hall. The city hall is a beautiful building designed with a lot of windows as well as a curved sides. On the inside, there is a lot of plants up the walls, I believe the tour guide said there was about 65,000 pots. He explained that this helps with oxygen in the building as well as humidity.

Another cool feature we learned about was that 28.3% of the city hall’s energy comes from renewable sources. The automatic sensors on the windows and thermal glass adjusts the temperature to maximize the energy efficiently in the building.
After the tour, Dr. Yun sent each group out to find a specific landmark around Seoul. The point of the tour was to get us used to using public transportation on our own. We had to find Supyogyo Bridge, and unfortunately Google Maps led us to the wrong bridge at first, but we eventually found the correct one.
