Visit to Vina Capital Foundation

Today offered a much different experience as it was a foundation not a company. The Vina Capital Foundation, located in a small building, offered a great experience. We got a great presentation from the CEO Rad Kivette. The mission of the company to help less fortunate kids in Vietnam whether with healthcare or opportunities to do better in life in rural Vietnam. The foundation does a lot of great work, and the CEO is one of the most patinate people I have met. You can really tell he cares about the work he does.

One thing that stuck out to me was the government’s desire to treat cancer. In America there is a big emphasis on fighting cancer. In Vietnam only 30% of cancer patients survive. The government has reached out to Vina to look into and help this. Vina will go out into these more rural villages to find and help those kids who need help and now cancer treatment is a new goal off theirs. I like how the foundation will stick with these kids to measure and see how effective their help was. This feedback is helpful as 68% of those being helped have gone on to go from low to middle class citizens.

Another thing that stood out to me was Mr. Kievite’s stance on women. It’s amazing to see how he takes such an initiative to help younger women in the region. Only 8% of women in the country make it through school and he wants to flip that. He works to educate and inform younger women to help create a more equal gender balance in the country. The work the company has done is great and to see people want better for the Vietnamese who are undercard for is amazing.
