After unfortunately missing day 4 due to illness, I was able to bounce back and attend all the activities for day 5. Today we toured GreenViet, listened to a lecture about Vietnamese culture, created a presentation in order to demonstrate our new Vietnamese language skills, and took a relaxing boat tour around the city. GreenViet is a consulting company that helps others when it comes to things like constructing sustainable houses, factories, and other buildings that you would see in Vietnam. In today’s tour, GreenViet showed us one very important thing: it is important to build a network. The creator of GreenViet worked several different jobs in the construction industry like a construction worker and a construction consultant. Starting in 2013, the creator decided to start GreenViet, but since GreenViet was a baby company that was only recently created, not many people were eager to support it right away. Luckily for the creator, His network that he created help him and his company get support and also work. Over time, more and more people started to believe in GreenViet as they kept taking on important jobs. The ultimate lessons that were taught through today’s speaker were that building a network can be crucial to help further one’s career and even when things look tough, one must persevere in order to be successful.
