Our second day in Germany started off with a short walk to Königsplatz, the nearest tram station. For the majority of the day (6 AM to 8:30 PM), the trams come every 7 minutes. When you get on a tram here, you don’t have to show your ticket. Apparently, they will send inspectors to check if people have tickets occasionally (with a 60 Euro fine if you get caught!), but mostly it is a honor system. That’s very different than any kind of public transportation I’ve been on in America. After boarding the tram, we took it to the University of Augsburg. It was not a very long ride.
Since we got to the University of Augsburg early in the morning (before 9 am), the campus was pretty empty. Walking through the campus to the building we were going to, I noticed how their campus resembled many of the more traditional college campuses in the US. It was not spread out in the city, and had a lot of greenspaces and even a pond on campus.

We then met up with the German students to work on a short presentation about our company. It went well for only having an hour to finish it. After our presentation, an employee from Audi spoke to us over zoom about their company. It made me excited for our visit with them later in the trip.
We then ate lunch at their university’s cafeteria. It was different than the Eatery at Pitt, because the Eatery is buffet style while this cafeteria you paid for each item you got. I really liked the drink I had, was called apfel schorle.
After lunch, we had a quick campus tour then went back to Augsburg’s city center for a scavenger hunt and non-alcoholic beer tasting. By the time dinner came around, I was ready to eat! We ate at an Italian restaurant, and I had some very good veal. After that, we headed back to the hotel. Sleep came very easy that night!
