Hi Everyone!

Today we had another early start, and boarded a tour bus headed north. The bus ride took quite a while, but after about an hour and a half, we arrived at the Zuiderzeemuseum. I was very excited to find out that to get to the museum, you had to take a boat. The views were picturesque, it was a very old countryside lined with ports and ships.

The Zuiderzeemuseum is a Dutch museum dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage and maritime history of the Zuiderzee lands. There are two parts to this museum, an indoor section and an outdoor section. The indoor exhibits showcase the treasures and lifestyles of the time. The outdoor areas include a village with different shops you can stop in and learn about practices and jobs throughout the Zuiderzee history.

Once we were back on land, the group spotted a roped off area of the south sea that had mini row boats with random adventure tasks in the water. Obviously we dashed right over to this and spent the next hour playing bumper boats, and mastered the art of playing pirate, by stealing others boats. I would 1000% go back onto these boats. When we were done playing, we began to walk along the village trails. It was such a nice view from the village, as it is right on the water. We walked past several houses that were dedicated to specific crafts: painting, woodworking, fish smoking, and food production. While on this trail, we spotted some sheep and ducks. The flowers along this trail were very cute and made the whole place seem like a Disney village.

Below is the boat that most of us went out into the lagoon on. As a group of twelve adults does, we obviously turned the, children intended, lagoon into our pirate domain.

The group headed in for lunch at the museum’s cafe and spent time relaxing. After our lunch, we walked the village trails all the way to the lookout tower. This was nice as it allowed us to see the entire village and the sea. After our time at the museum, we took the boat back to the bus and headed back to Rotterdam.

Tonight we are going to Markthall for dinner. Markthall is a food court with various option, so I hope I find something good. We plan on exploring Rotterdam and what the city has to offer tonight, so we shall see how it compares to Amsterdam!
