Camp Humphreys & CN Tower (day 2)

Tuesday was such a unique day. After our main event of the day (visiting Camp
Humphreys) we had quite a lot of free time for the rest of the day/night.
Tuesday morning started with us heading on the bus to drive to Camp Humphreys,
a US military base. Personally, I didn’t know what to expect, as I had never
been familiar with the military, Army, Navy, etc. I was pleasantly surprised
when we got there because everyone was so nice and kind. I had a preconceived
thought that it would be very serious but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Our
welcome presentation was given by an officer who was from the Pittsburgh area,
so he instantly was able to relate to us and familiarize us with his own
experiences of the burgh. Afterward, all had lunch together, along with over 75
soldiers. Then, we toured the grounds and were shown different types of
technology/artillery that is used. It was so cool to see the pieces of
equipment up close. During the presentation, we learned that Camp Humphreys is
practically a town in itself. With schools, parks, grocery stores, gyms, movie
theatres, etc. It was crazy! Afterward, we took a tour of the whole city on the
bus and learned about the history of the camp. Soon after, it was time for us
to head back to the hotel. The camp was about 1.5 hours away, fortunately, I
slept the whole way back.

Once back at the hotel a group of friends and I decided we would walk to the
CN tower. It took us a while, but we finally were on the correct path to get
there. It took my friends Annie, Taylor, Mitch, Matt, Meena, Connor, and me
over 30 minutes to get there. We walked over 15 flights of stairs while
stopping multiple times along the way because the view was astounding. By the
time we made it, it was pushing dinner time and we were all hungry. However, we
couldn’t leave without going to the top. So, we bought tickets and made our way
to the very top. Many of us bought souvenirs for our friends and family then
found ourselves traveling down the tower to head back toward the hotel.

When we finally reached the bottom, we headed back to Sejong Hotel to see
what the vibe was for the rest of the night. As we all walked back we decided
to get dinner somewhere (a 10pm dinner, late I know). Our destination turned
out to be a Korean BBQ restaurant. The food smelled so good and tasted even
better. It must have had to be the fact that we cooked it ourselves. I found
myself craving something sweet after so I ventured off with my friend to
satisfy our craving. Finally, after buying Tanghulu we headed back to our hotel
to officially end the day.
