Today, I woke up a bit later to start off the day. I was very much looking forward to today because today we went to take an authentic Taekwondo class at the number one English taekwondo studio in Korea. After a brief subway ride to the studio, we changed into traditional taekwondo fighting outfits, a gi, and began the class. The master, a 7th degree black belt, began the class by having us stretch out and practice some basic punches. After punching from the waist we moved onto kicks. These were probably the most challenging exercise we did because it involved standing on one foot and kicking your leg against the target. Finally, we had a chance to use an ax kick to break through a real wooden board. It was overall a great time and a great way to learn about the history and principles of the martial art while having fun. After taekwondo we headed off to the Seoul city square and city hall area. We first had a quick but amazing lunch, then we had a chance to explore the area. In the area, a few friends and I hung out on some lounge chairs, and then we started a tour of the old city hall and new city hall. The halls were amazing! The old city hall was built in a traditional western style of architecture while the new one was very modern, sleek, and beautiful. A memorable moment was when our tour guide, Lee, took us to the roof of the hall and showed us the great view of the Seoul area. Lee then took us to tour the new city hall. I found it especially interesting that it was full of greenery. Overall, it was a great time and great day and I’m looking forward for a great time tomorrow!
