Today is Saturday and a great day! We got to sleep in a little bit and then had the best day yet in my opinion! We went to the Black Country Living Museum for most of the day and then spent the rest by ourselves. I did not realize how much I would enjoy this museum but I definitely did!
Taking The Bus
However, first off in the morning, we had to ride the bus to the museum. It was a long ride but it was worth it. We went on the first double decker bus of the trip and boy was it exhilarating! We all went right up to the top to enjoy the ride. After sitting in the middle of the bus, I decided that I wanted to go up to the front. It was so much fun and I got the best view. I am still memorized by how people drive in the United Kingdom. Finally, we got to the museum.
I personally love these types of museums and it was really fascinating. We started off going to the coal mine and it was very cold down there. We had to wear helmets and needed lights to see. Then, we went to the school. That was so much fun and we all had to repeat after the teacher. The teacher was strict and something that I learned was that only one of child (the smartest) in the family would be in school because it was so expensive. A few of us got in trouble and it was very funny. Then we went to several different shops. My personal favorite places though were all of the houses. It was interesting to see how most of the people lived with huge families and very few bedrooms. One of the houses had a lady playing songs from The Sound of Music, so, we were walking around the house and humming along. We walked down every street and checked out all of the stores. Something else that was cool was the cinema that was playing a black and white film!
Food
I ate some yummy food as well! I had a pork pie and it was very interesting. I’m glad I tried it because I love trying new foods but it was too much for me. Then, I had some delicious fries with salt and vinegar as well!
1950’s Theme
Also, something very exciting was that it was 1950’s theme today. We heard a little bit about history that was going on during the time and it was crazy to think that the queen was being coronated! There were several cars on the street from the time period and great music. I personally love the 1950’s and I’m so happy I was able to spend this day here today. Lastly, there was a 1950’s carnival with fun rides. We went on the swings and a haunted house where I was scared for the entire time.
Today was such a fun day and I could have spent all day at the museum, but I was ready to get back for a nap. I’m excited to work on my project and go out to explore more of Birmingham tonight. I am also super excited for Oxford tomorrow. I have never been and I think it will be very interesting. Now I’m going to get a good night sleep so I can be ready for the early morning! Until next time!
