Un Dia en un Rancho

Today we had a very fun day because we got to learn and experience more of Argentine culture. We left the hotel around 8 in the morning and we had an hour long bus ride to a ranch. The ranch was called Don Silvanos. We got to walk around and look at horses and a bunch of other animals. We also got to ride in a carriage around the farm which was very fun. Then we learned about gaucho. Gaucho is a skilled horseman and a folk symbol in Argentina. They embody the countryside of Argentina, which one of the large industries in Argentina is cattle. After learning about it we actually got to watch a gaucho show. It was very cool and just by watching the audience you could tell it is very popular in the culture. Just like anything, it is a way to bring people together. They also interacted with the audience while doing their tricks which was really cool to be a part of. For lunch they fed us barbecue and we got to try a bunch of different meats. They also performed dances and one of them again was tango. So that was fun to dance since we already learned how earlier in the week. We had the rest of the night free when we got back to do more exploring and finding a new restaurant we haven’t yet tried. It was a very fun, but long day. And since tomorrow is Mother’s Day we’re all supposed to talk about our moms in our blog post. That is really easy for me to do because my mom is my best friend and my biggest inspiration. I could not imagine my life without her in it. She is an amazing and beautiful person inside and out. She always thinks of others feelings before herself which I find to be truly inspiring. She feels for everyone and is just the sweetest person I know. I’m sad that I won’t be able to celebrate with her tomorrow but I hope she knows how thankful I am to have her as my mom and how much I love her. Before my day starts tomorrow I will make sure to call her before I do anything.
