Today we visited Yonsei University. We had some free time when we got there before any official tours so my group and I looked around for a book/merch store and I ended up getting a pen for my dad and a hat for my brother. We then started on our first of many tours. We took a very general tour of the university and some of the prominent buildings, including the business building as our whole group is a mix of engineering and business students.
We ate lunch in the university cafe and had a choice of four options. I went with the beef brisket noodles and pineapple fried rice and it did not disappoint. The noodles were delicious and the rice complimented the dish very well. I also got some macaroni salad from a side bar which was also very good. I learned at the university that it is actually somewhat uncommon for people to drink water when they eat their food, and that they will get small cups of water to drink afterwards. This sparked my interest as in America it’s relatively common to have a drink with your meal. During a presentation we had as well, it was mentioned that the university doesn’t have any kind of focus on graduation rates and things like that since everyone is given high expectations to do so whereas in America sometimes schools include that information to show success rates and good full programs.
The majority of the rest of the tours were related to engineering. We had a few presentations and many tours of different engineering buildings and facilities, and while I am a business student it was still a good experience being exposed to the labs and different things in each building. I’ve always had an interest in engineering, so I didn’t really mind that it was focused on that. It was a very long day, but after the tours we headed home for some rest to prepare for the early morning the next day for the DMZ
