Buksan National Park and Cooking Bibimbap

We went to Buksan National Park today. I ended up having a slight mental breakdown and had to go back to the bus. I broke into tears sobbing from being overwhelmed. I didn’t get the best sleep the previous night, so I was tired. I also wasn’t wearing the best shoes for hiking. Overall my wardrobe for this trip was a little too professional. Within the first couple minutes of the trip I knew that I was probably not going to be able to make it to the top. I’m not athletic in any sense and for some reason inclines get my thighs tight. There were so many thoughts going through my head at that moment. I didn’t want to slow the group down but I knew I could not keep up the current pace. I was also afraid of hurting myself especially since I injured my ankle earlier in the year. I’ve been hiking before but usually it is with my dad at a more leisurely pace.

After a nap on the bus I went out with everyone to lunch. I wasn’t very hungry so I didn’t eat much. We then returned to the hotel for a break. I took a nap again. Most people took a shower because they got wet and were sweating on the hike, but I didn’t need to since I went back early in the hike. We then reconvened at 4:30 to go to a cooking class to make bibimbap.

We took a bus to the cooking class. When we got there we went up to the third floor. They instructed us to wash our hands and put on aprons. The head chef then went through the whole process to make the bibimbap. We were cooking in pairs and I cooked with my one group member. We were one of the last pairs to finish cooking. The food was so good. They gave us miso soup with our bibimbap and dessert after. I had a lot of fun cooking.
