Day 7 in Cyprus

Todays day started by checking out of the hotel in Limassol and loading up the bus with our luggage. Before we went to the next hotel in Nicosia we had stops to make and sights to see. First we went to Aphrodite rock which was breathtaking. In greek mythology, it is said that this place is where Aphrodite, the goddess of love, emerged from the water. Our tour guide also said that there is a legend where if a woman goes into the ocean and finds the spot where Aphrodite emerged on a full moon at midnight, then she will gain her beauty. If a man does the same thing then he will gain eternal youth, I wonder if a lot of people go to this beach on a full moon because that sounds like a decent deal. Overall, Aphrodites rock was a great experience and sight to see.

After the visit to the rock we went to Pafos and saw some more historic sites. We got to see a museum of conserved mosaics from various time periods. One of the most interesting ones I saw was a mosaic of Narcissus. It depicted him sitting down staring at himself in the reflection of the water. This is ironic because he ended up drowning in water. It was really impressive to see how nice and preserved these mosaics were. After that we were able to walk outside and see the ruins that were in a lot worse condition.

Once we got done with the tours we had some free time in Pafos which was nice. We sat down at one of the restaurants for lunch and one of the other restaurants brought out a pelican and had it walk around. After our interesting lunch we walked around the promenade and did some shopping. There were a lot of places selling the similar stuff. Overall it was a fun day exploring a new part of Cyprus.
