May 13 was a day full of site visits. Unfortunately, I was unable to go to the Coherent visit in the morning, but the Hi Tech Park certainly made up for it.
I think the Saigon Hi-Tech Park was extremely interesting, especially because of the amount of land the park takes up of. It is still continuing to expand. I also really liked how the park showcased all the companies that have chosen the Hi-Tech Park.
The innovation hub was definitely my favorite part of the visit. I am pursuing a certificate in entrepreneurship and innovation, so I found this section to be very cool. I thought it was very interesting to see what local and also international industries collaborate with the Hi Tech park.
I do think there are these types of technology parks located in the US. A technology park is somewhere companies and laboratories do work involving science and technology. The US certainly has places like one just described.
I think the collaboration between the park and the university centers is awesome. It allows younger individuals to have first hand experience in this field, while also having learning about something that interests them. I think it would be super cool to have something like this at Pitt!
