Our last day trip was also the most awaited one, as we finally got to visit the Mekong Delta. We started by taking a boat across one of the branches into some of the islands, where we explored the area by horse cart and walking. We got to try some local food and shop before heading to my favorite part of the trip, the canoe ride down a smaller part of the river. This was super relaxing and just a great way to explore this beautiful region. After that we got back on the bus and headed to another set of islands where we had another great Vietnamese lunch. After lunch we explored some more of the island, and even saw a place where we could feed alligators. After that we headed back to the boat and left the delta. This trip was really cool as we got to see another aspect of how people in Vietnam live outside of Ho Chi Minh City. It’s crazy how different day to day life can be just a few hours outside of the city. Another thing we saw was a lot of tourists, probably more than I have anywhere in the city besides maybe the war remnants museum, which was surprising to me. The delta is definitely known for its agriculture, but the tourism industry, especially in the area we were, is also big.
After the delta we travelled by bus to another pagoda to visit and take pictures. Compared to the pagoda in the city this one was much bigger with multiple different buildings and statues, and was overall a very cool place to visit.
I have to say that this was one of the better days in Vietnam, and I still can’t believe that this trip is nearly over.
